August Weekend Fun

Duckie Visual Art

I have had such a lovely weekend of wholesome activities, which I feel compelled to share with you! Think of it as a list of recommendations…

FRIDAY: I woke up early to attend FastBreak at the Powerhouse Museum. Early morning stimulation supplied by both coffee and discourse, it was a great way to start the day!

Lunch was a tasty steak sandwich at the Lord Nelson in the Rocks. The smell of salt on the air and sun was shining with the promise of Spring just around the corner!

Finally saw an old favourite band Darth Vegas at the superb new bar Camelot. Enjoy great tunes with great company. See an example of their death metal-cum- circus core glory below.

SATURDAY

Caught the matinĂ©e performance of ‘Can We Talk About This’ by DV8 which is incredible! Absolutely stunning physical theatre choreography coupled with intelligent and confronting dialogue – an intense experience. Please see this show while you have the chance.

A little musical comedy at the Vanguard (I’d forgotten what a beautiful venue this was) was on the menu that night with the Bedroom Philosopher and Catboy. Very tight and professional performances that were both charming and hilarious!

SUNDAY

Lunch at Cafe Shenkin on Erskineville Road and enjoying the sun with beers in the park for the remainder of the afternoon.
