Burlesque with Christa and Vashti Hughes

Duckie Blog, Burl-esque

Wowzers! The Hughes family is certainly a formidable one, oozing with talent.

For the last week of the Mystery Bus we teamed up with the good folks at Camelot Lounge for an extravaganza of cabaret, music and burlesque. The hot little venue was packed and the acts on stage were even hotter. The night was mc-ed by the hilarious Drew Fairley, including his much loved ‘Hotel California Sketch’ to great laughs and applause. The world infamous Christa Hughes busted out a few classic favourites as well as the obligatory raunch, ridiculously sexy costumes and dirty gags. If you haven’t seen her yet, you haven’t really lived.

Vashti Hughes added to the cabaret mix and even gave us a preview of her fantastic show ‘Mum’s In‘. This is showing NOW at a sumptuous new venue, the Bordello Theatre in the King’s Cross Hotel. The one woman show chronicles the rivalry between the two real life Sydney underworld femme fatales, Tilly Devine and Kate Leigh. Both hilarious, chair gripping and informative, this show is on every Sunday at 5pm and is not to be missed!

Finally the night was topped off with a spot of messy burlesque with yours truly, Thunderkat and Geronimo providing a bit of respite entertainment. Banana split was on the menu ;)

A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this possible! We had so much fun, and received nothing but positive feedback and good vibes from the other performers, audience and crew. Thanks again!
